The Speerstra Gallery opened in 1984 in Monaco and in 2001 in Paris near the Picasso Museum. Finally in 2007 the gallery moves to Bursins in Switzerland were it is still today. Today the Speerstra Gallery is the only art space in Europe showing Graffiti and Street Art throught solo and group shows.
The Gallery show international Graffiti artists from the early 80's such as Crash, Daze, Jonone or Sharp, French and Swiss old school Graffiti artists : Rcf1, Honet, Alëxone, Mist, Dare, Smash137, Serval, Jazi ... and contemporary artists such as Thomas Fiebig, Henry Chalfant.
"Immersed at 11 into Graffiti Art and gazing at writers from the New York City old School period (1975-1985) , Willem has never changed direction, and acts for the promotion of his icons. While outsides to this underground mouvement couldn’t imagine it possible to intruduce graffiti art in a permanent space facing at first the Picasso Museum in Paris and today the Geneva lake in Switzerland. Speerstra succeeds by raising tags and letters to the noble raw art, in a formal context."
