The 13 Art Fair event aims to reflect the artistic effervescence of this trend, which has its roots in urban subcultures such as Street Art, Pop Surrealism and Low Bro, as well as skate culture, punk culture and tattooing.
From October 12 to 15, the first edition of 13 Art Fair will be held at the Cité de la Mode et du Design, in the heart of Paris's 13th arrondissement. Dedicated to contemporary urban art, the fair brings together international galleries representing the different currents of this culture: Street Art, Pop Surrealism and punk culture.
It's impossible to ignore the considerable and unprecedented development of urban art over the last twenty years. Many artists have emerged from this shared culture, creating an incredible international movement. The 13 Art Fair aims to reflect the artistic effervescence of this trend, which has its roots in urban subcultures such as Street Art, Pop Surrealism and Low Bro, as well as skate culture, punk culture and tattooing. Its first edition will open its doors on October 12 at the Cité de la Mode et du Design in Paris, where some 30 international galleries will offer for sale a selection of works by Street Artists such as Obey, C215, Tristan Eaton and Shepard Fairey.
In addition, 13 Art Fair is a continuation of the "Street Art 13" project, which since 2009 has enabled Parisians and tourists alike to stroll through the streets of the 13th arrondissement, discovering a series of frescoes by French and international artists. Following the installation of Les Docks and the opening of the Cité de la Mode et du Design in 2012, the XIIIth arrondissement has now established itself as an emblematic venue for Street Art in Paris, with an annual fair dedicated to urban cultures.
