His artistic approach, through abstraction, explores the relations between the body and the mind, inseparable entities. The body to body of the artist with the material is thus a real outlet for his emotions, questions and his ideas.
Christophe Rotais, also known as MPCEM, is a French sculptor. A self-taught artist, he started creating art in 2008. He lives and works in Brittany. MPCEM, his artistic name, tells us more about his artistic approach. In fact, his name means: Movement for Body and Mind. His artistic approach, through abstraction, explores the relations between the body and the mind, inseparable entities. The body to body of the artist with the material is thus a real outlet for his emotions, questions and his ideas. In his introspective universe, the artist retains a part of spontaneity, saying he wants to "sculpt his non-reflected thoughts". Artists, he writes, "address themselves to the mind of man, to his imagination; My art is made of suggestions, ideas and mystery".
With the exhibition "Formes en soi" MPCEM brings us back to our own vision, sensation and interpretation of these proposed abstract forms. What shows itself and allows through these forms to be outside of oneself, in the test of reality. Each theme has its own language, its unity of coexistence, its own metaphor playing with our experiences, our perceptions. But it is in others that the expression takes its relief and becomes really meaningful, projecting forms, forms in oneself.
