Speerstra Gallery Paris presents REMIO "11:11 MAKE A WISH"

1 February - 1 March 2025

Speerstra Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition by graffiti artist REMIO entitled "11:11 MAKE A WISH". The exhibition invites us to explore a world where intuition, spontaneity and symbolism meet.

The title of the exhibition, "11:11 MAKE A WISH", is inspired by the mirror hour 11:11, which carries powerful symbolisms. Synonymous with renewal, creation and self-confidence, 11:11 invites us to seize the moment, to initiate new beginnings. This quadruple repetition of the number 1 amplifies a vital energy, reminding us that anything is possible for those who dare to dream and undertake. For REMIO, this mirror hour also evokes a link with synchronicities: those significant moments that seem to be orchestrated by the universe. "11:11 MAKE A WISH" is a celebration of those unique moments when inspiration strikes when raw energy is transformed into creation.

REMIO is an emblematic figure of graffiti and maintains his different artistic practices throughout the world, on the streets and in art galleries. He likes to fuse these two worlds, with their different values and codes, one feeding into the other, with the aim of achieving excellence as a whole. Driven by creative intuition, he lives his art as a religion, where every gesture and every choice of colour is dictated by spontaneity, becoming an instinctive expression. The result is surprising, sensitive and full of power. A series of drawings in 32 x 22cm format playfully present his favourite letter, the R, in different characters and states of mind. The exhibition also includes a series of ceramics, giving her characters even greater depth and character. Finally, his work on canvas completes his vision of an ensemble in which REMIO can flourish and where his world can be expressed without limits of the medium.

"11:11 MAKE A WISH" explores personal and universal themes, such as family and love, which have guided the artist in recent years. Through his work, he captures the intimate and singular energy that links the serendipity of life with an artistic vision. True to his roots, REMIO uses the tools of graffiti, spray cans, markers and inks, and elevates them to the status of fine art. These media, traditionally associated with urban practice and today find their place on canvas, giving each work an authentic and controlled brutality. The exhibition reflects REMIO's characteristic playfulness, while drawing on a wide range of inspirations: cartoons, masks, the worn textures of everyday life, and personal memories. Each work is an invitation to explore the poetry of detail, to stop for a moment and make a wish, like when you cross the 11:11 mirror hour.
