Speerstra Gallery Paris presents SHARP "The Reeducation of Sharpy Butters"

20 September - 31 October 2002

These works by Sharp are a continuation of the early subterranean forays into kaleidoscopic colour study. The evolution of the alphabet and communication of ideas through abstract imagery is the mission. Come with us along the journey to visual redefinition.

A series of works on paper, canvas and wood all inspired by the movie "The Education of Sonny Carson" filmed in New York in the early 1970's, this movie tracks the youth of Sonny Carson. The gang culture of New York City is very similar to the underground movement of graffiti in the early 1980's. These works by Sharp are a continuation of the early subterranean forays into kaleidoscopic colour study. The evolution of the alphabet and communication of ideas through abstract imagery is the mission. Come with us along the journey to visual redefinition.
