"Since the "Black Diamonds" exhibition last year, my work has evolved, the details for which I am known have disappeared and appeared in the form of broader lines and strokes, less blurred but more precise. Working for the last five months within the four walls of my studio in Belleville gave me the idea for the name of this exhibition. It's a total contrast with my street painting and my work on underground trains. "Talking to walls" is the result of a collaboration between myself and Willem Speerstra. It's an opportunity for the public to discover my latest work. A totally new approach to my new drawings and canvases."
In JonOne's previous works, the canvas is completely filled and layered; white space no longer exists. Two of the new paintings, "Talking to walls" and "After effects", symbolise the evolution towards a purer work, with broader lines and strokes, less blurred and more precise. His palette, always rich and vivid, reveals tones and contrasts and the subtle play of nuances where each canvas is an abstract improvisation.
