Twenty years after its arrival in France, graffiti art is still too often reduced to its pseudo social character. The concept of "Blackbook" is to break with this largely restrictive approach by presenting the personal work of French graffiti writer and artist, Woshe, and the universe in which he has taken his place for more than fifteen years.
Follower of a traditional style inherited by the pioneers of New York City, the author provides the tools to an another reading, more relevant, of its alphabetical escapades.
After a first didactic part, which offers the keys to understand the logic of construction of the twenty-six letters of the alphabet, declining the multiple manners of assembling letters between them. Woshe puts the reader in condition by looking with new eyes at the artists most significant work. And what if graffiti was not this wild practice and stripped of movement that is sold to us? For the first time, this book offers a true "formal" speech on this forty-year-old practice. It makes it possible to the reader to acquire keys to look at graffitis under a day new, to penetrate in this visual universe which is badly know or very little. Conceived and realized by one of the great names of french graffiti writing: Woshe.
