Speerstra Gallery Paris presents Thomas Fiebig "Where is the joke"

4 - 29 April 2006

A balance between chaos and order; the simultaneousness of sense and senseless. Fiebig’s lastest work proposes a mixture of collages, pop images, advertising, graffiti and the multicoloured world of children books. Internal contradictions make the paintings paradoxical.

The work of Thomas Fiebig is about destruction, in a creative process in order to propose something completely new. The paintings exist within the interface, the old is being transformed into a new and fragile state between dissonance and harmony. A balance between chaos and order; the simultaneousness of sense and senseless. Fiebig’s lastest work proposes a mixture of collages, pop images, advertising, graffiti and the multicoloured world of children books. Internal contradictions make the paintings paradoxical. This condition is also reinforced by it’s mode of creation: visible scratches and wild strokes are pedant but applied calmely. The precision found in his work is painted with the greatest care and is held contrary to the chaos represented.
