Speerstra Gallery Switzerland presents Mist "Class 88"

2 May - 27 June 2008

The exhibition "Class 88" will present a brand new series of large format works revealing his talents as a calligrapher and colorist.

For his first exhibition at the Speerstra Gallery, MIST will exhibit, as a preview, a sculpture taking his name, bringing together in one piece all the mediums he likes to use: painting, sculpture, graffiti lettering and toys. This sculpture reflects his gently diabolical universe with its own color palette.
The exhibition "Class 88" will present a brand new series of large format works revealing his talents as a calligrapher and colorist. Mist reveals, not without humor, that through his creations, he is constantly self-portraying, that his letters are inhabited and possessed by his "hellish style". What interests him is to make his letter live and almost dance, which sometimes becomes a character.
The "Mist" style is characterized by the quasi-permanent use of large outlines and frank colors, letting appear here and there horns, tails or clawed fingers. The tradition of the graffiti character is well present in his work, but in Mist's work, the traditional B-Boy gives way to fresh "mangaesque" demons of all kinds, overturning the hip-hop icon of his graffiti artists forefathers.
